Wade Pilkington

CMIOSH FITOL CDM CFRSH

Managing Director

From the age of fifteen through to my youthful sixty years, I have been involved in construction.  This has taken me from the oil and gas world through, power to the emerging renewable technologies.  I have done the mundane – sweeping up rubbish on scaffold boards to the highly technical – signing off heavy lifts plans for loads up to 4500 tonnes.  I’ve seen most things that happen on site at least once, but I’m still keen to learn.  I want to pass on my experiences and knowledge to others to improve their understanding of life goals and achievements through good health and safety practices.

I enjoy working with people who want to learn and want to better themselves.  There is no more greater achievement for me when the ground worker or the managers says, “Thank you Wade for all you done for me” that’s the buzz for me.

As a Chartered Member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health and a highly experienced health and safety professional.  Sometimes I have to stand my ground when others won’t because I know, through experience and knowledge, that it will go wrong. Then as I say in a few words “If it looks wrong or feels wrong then its is wrong”.  And that is normally the case, even if some one disagrees.  I usually prove to them I’m right: it saves lives and that’s what I’m concerned about.

I’m very relaxed about my approach to people.  Speak to people how you would expect them to speak to you.  Be polite and respectful and smile, it goes along way.  There’s nothing like a smile on your face when you introduce yourself to someone for the first time to get to know them.

I have a few hobbies to keep me active walking my GSD Dolly and building Hot Rods, Karate and Rugby.

I have two families my partner and two sons who come before anything else.  The other family is the one I help and advise at work steering them through work safely and not having to use the word “No” or “Stop work”. I use the positive proactive approach to Health and Safety, aiming to fix it before it goes wrong.

Think Safe. Work Safe. Home Safe.
